The Berlin Group is not from Berlin
The Berlin Group is a good excuse for an exchange
The Berlin Group is a strategic alliance entered for speculative reasons
The Berlin Group is not sure what they will show you next week to win you over
The Berlin Group is a productive workgroup engaged to push the limits of artistic integrity
The Berlin Group is a non-collaborative alliance of questionable honesty engaged to trip each other up

The first public meeting of the b group happened on friday 28th feb 2005, 20:00-22:00 Salle Demain, Rotterdam. It followed a series of discussions on how we could work ‘near’ each other and three days working in the space of salle demain towards the production of ephemeral artworks/think pieces, with the ‘help’ of the following obstructions:

(D) - no text - Commercial - Performance with costume
(LP) - bucket and ladder - verbal fight - defined parameters
(T) - other peoples ideas - dolly parton - co-author list
(H) - wall hanging - has to use 3 materials - jesus
(K) - irony - clay - co-author list
(E) - collaborate with Hester - Feng shui - responsible for connectedness to outside world

the b.group project 2

FOR
the b.group project 2 we have picked out 18 movies for a giant demolition derby video clash. We agreed to each pull scenes from our movies relating to three concept categories: Introduction, Power, Periphery. We will re-edit this footage into one continuous reel which we can multiply project in a staggered manner. This is for practicality, not necessarily a unitary condition.

(dates/times/more details to follow)

we are a non-collaborative alliance
we are engaged to risk productive surprises
we are often an ANTAGONISTIC ALLIANCE

we are sometimes about nearness and long distance
