‘Low Profile presents: Just in Case’ takes the form of a guided tour, where we read from a list of things that we ‘have’ ‘just in case’. We bring our audience from the ’safety’ of the gallery to ‘unsafe’, and often hidden spaces, such as: fire escapes, roof top spaces, storage and backstage areas and eventually back to the gallery again.
“Ready to go?”
In Rotterdam, we met with our audience in TENT gallery on Witte de Withstraat, brought them up the gallery stairs to the top floor where Hannah took five people in the lift with her, leaving Rachel and the others in the audience behind.
“I’ve got your phone number just in case I get lost
I’ve got your phone number just in case we get separated
I’ve got 500 pounds just in case of a rainy day…”
Rachel and the rest of the group followed after some time, meeting the rest of the group outside of the fire exit on the first floor. From there, they were brought back onto the street, through a playground and residential area.
Hannah: “I’ve got Rachel just in case I mess it up”
Rachel: “I’ve got Hannah just in case I need a chat”
Hannah: “I’ve got Rachel just in case I loose my nerve”
Rachel: “I’ve got Hannah just in case I want to go for a drink”
Hannah: “I’ve got Rachel just in case I need the toilet…”
The group were then brought through an alleyway into a dark basement where we sat for a while in a row of old cinema chairs. The list continues…
We climb up a ladder through the ceiling of the basement, into the main gallery space of TENT and then out a delivery entrance, round the corner and back into the front entrance, and the safety, of the gallery.
